Yes! Water is Good for You and Me!
6 Business Ideas For Students In The University
Tuesday, 25 November 2014
Ladies,what are you doing wrong?
I know You’ve heard it before, over and over again —
moisture is everything when it comes to natural
hair health. Still, many naturals struggle with
keeping their curls, kinks and coils well-
moisturized. Perhaps you’re guilty of one of the
9 ineffective moisturizing practices. The key to maintaining natural healthy is to have a good regimen that actually works. Check it
out and comment down below what you've been doing wrong n together let's make magic; :-)
1. Moisturizing dirty hair/hair that has product
buildup
The objective of moisturizing is to apply water-
based product that penetrates the cuticle (outer
layer) of the strand and infuse the cortex (inner
layer) with water. If there is too much dirt or
product on your cuticle, then there’s little
chance that any moisturizing product you apply
will make it to the cortex.
2. Using butters or oils as moisturizers
With the exception of a few oils, like coconut oil,
that can penetrate the strand — oils and butters
will sit on the OUTSIDE of your strand because
they are SEALANTS, not moisturizers. Their
purpose is to lock in moisture — not apply it. If
your hair is feeling dry, and you apply a butter
or oil, you are just weighing down dry hair,
making it more brittle and susceptible to
breakage.
3. Using water based products without sealing
Just like oils and butters aren’t effective as
moisturizers, water-based products — and
water itself! — isn’t effective at moisturizing
unless it’s sealed in. Water quickly evaporate
out of the cortex unless a sealing product is
applied to the lock it in.
*Note: Spritzes are a great daily moisturizing
solution as they contain water, which
penetrates the cuticle, as well as oils, that seal
the water in. While they aren’t heavy-duty
enough to provide long-term moisturizing, they
are great as a daily refresher, in between
moisture and seal sessions.
4. Under-moisturizing
Just like your body can be thirsty way before
your throat actually feels parched, natural hair
can need moisture way before it feels crunchy
and dry. Start by moisturizing your hair at least
once a day. If, in the following hours, your hair
feels wet and mushy, you can cut your
moisturizing down to every other day. If it still
feels dry, then you might need to up your
moisturizing to twice daily.
5. Neglecting the re-moisturizing process after
a shampoo
Shampooing is a bit of a paradox when it
comes to moisturizing — you are dousing your
hair with water, while also stripping your
strands of dirt and natural oils that help lock in
moisture. So, in a sense, your hair is getting
dryer as it gets wetter. The squeaky, super dry
feeling your hair has after a shampoo is lack of
lubrication, and its critical that it be replaced.
Be sure to deep condition after every shampoo
and follow up with a moisturize & seal.
6. Using styling products as moisturizers
The primary purpose of styling products is NOT
to improve the health of your hair. Just like the
primary purpose of moisturizing products is
NOT to sculpt and style your hair. There are
some crossover products that can do both, but
most will not. Liquid styling products might
look tempting as a fill-in when you need a
moisturizer but they might contain alcohols
and mineral oil that will dry your hair out in the
long run.
7. Focusing on roots instead of ends
Your ends are the driest part of your strands
and most susceptible to breakage. The natural
oils that your scalp secretes don’t travel down
far enough to coat your ends, so it’s important
that you are proactive in protecting them. Work
moisturizing product into your hair from root to
tip. Some naturals even limit their product
application to the bottom 75% of their strands.
8. Over Moisturizing
Properly moisturized strands don’t feel soggy
and wet, they feel supple and strong — even
when they’re dry. Applying too much
moisturizing and sealing product can leave your
hair perpetually wet, making it difficult to style.
Be even-handed with your product application.
Not only will it make styling easier, but it will
save your bed spread, couches, car seats, and
anything else your hair comes into contact
with.
9. Deep conditioning/steaming for hours
While there are a few treatments, like henna,
that require long-term application, most deep
conditioning treatments need 30 minutes or
less. Many naturals feel that keeping
treatments on overnight helps with softness
and moisture, but an increasing number are
realizing that 30 minutes (or whatever time the
product instructions say) is just as effective as
8 hours. Keep in mind that the makers of your
conditioner have tested the product, and know
how much time it takes to be effective.
Are you guilty of anything on this list? What are
some ineffective moisturizing practices that
you’ve been guilty of?

Ladies learn how to take care of your hair at night
How to care for your hair at nighttime:
You might be meticulous about your hair
during the daytime hours, but do little to
take care of your hair while asleep. As you
toss and turn overnight, your hair cuticles get
roughened up by rubbing on pillowcases --
and you get that just-woke-up look in the
morning. A tight ponytail at nighttime can
also tear at your hair. Make nighttime a
restorative part of your hair-care routine so
your morning 'do is not a don't.
Step 1
Invest in a silk scarf or silk pillowcases,
which are less abrasive to your hair than
traditional cotton pillowcases. When you toss
and turn, silk allows your hair to slide across
the pillow for less fraying and frizz. Or wrap
your hair in a silk scarf before bed to protect
it from rubbing and keep your hair firmly in
place while you sleep, no matter how much
you move around.
Step 2
Tie up your hair with a soft hair tie if you
prefer to sleep in a ponytail. Tight hair ties
with metal pieces can tear at your hair
throughout the night, and create pull around
your forehead. Instead, use a soft scrunchy
or bandanna to keep your hair out of your
face at night. You'll also avoid the annoying
hair creases from tight elastics when you
wake up.
Step 3
Wash your hair and enjoy a daily shower at
night. Your hair will dry overnight and
negate the need for heated styling tools in
the morning that can damage your hair. If
you don't like the way your hair dries
naturally, comb through a gel or mousse and
braiding your hair loosely. In the morning,
you'll have soft and healthy waves.
Step 4
Apply a small amount of oil to the ends of
your hair before you go to bed at night. Use
hair oil purchased from a drugstore, or
mineral or olive oil. The ends of your hair
tend to be drier that your roots, so a little
extra moisture before bed can keep them
looking smooth and shiny.
Things You'll Need:
Silk scarf
Silk pillowcase
Hair oil

Atiku Abubakar Holds Press Conference On Boko Haram Attacks
Former VP Atiku Abubakar who is from
Adamawa state, one of the worst hit by Boko
Haram, held a press conference today
November 3rd at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in
Abuja where he addressed the attacks of the
sect members on Mubi and other towns in
northern Nigeria. Atiku described the current
situation as grave and appealed to the
international community to come to Nigeria's
aid. Full text of his speech after the cut...
Gentlemen of the Press:
It is with deep regret that I came to learn that
Mubi, which is one the largest towns in
Adamawa State of northeast Nigeria, has been
taken by the terrorist group commonly known
as Boko Haram. As you may know, in recent
weeks and months, Mubi has been a town to
which displaced persons from further north
have fled for safety after their communities fell
to Boko Haram. As I speak, the inhabitants of
Mubi, together with those who went there for
safety, find themselves at the mercy of this
terrorist group.
I am Nigerian. I believe in the integrity of
Nigeria as a whole, and every part of this
country matters to me. But I was born and
bred in the northeast. So, please, excuse me if
I should say a few words about the part of the
country where I am from, about what the
people from the northeast of Nigeria have had
to suffer for far, far too long.
Things should never have got to this stage.
Thousands of Nigerians have had to flee their
homes. Their houses and farms have been
destroyed. They do not know where to go or
how to restart their lives. That is the degree to
which we have come in this country. I say this
with reluctance and with shame. The situation
in which we find ourselves today is grave.
Much of Borno, and the north of Adamawa and
Yobe states is already at the mercy of the
terrorists. It started a few months ago with
Bama, which is nearly 400 kilometres from
Yola, capital of Adamawa State.
The next major town to be taken by terrorists
was Gwoza, where a terrorist caliphate flag
has long been hoisted. Smaller towns near
Gwoza such as Pulka and Limankra are
equally not free. Next was Madagali. The
town is still being occupied. Then fell Gulak.
Next was Michika, then Bazza. Next was the
twin town of Uba which is half Adamawa and
half Bornu. Its neighboring town of Lassa was
also overrun. Uba was the latest town
captured before the terrorists trampled on
Mubi. People from these troubled areas are
now pouring into Yola for safety.
As somebody who hails from Adamawa State,
you can appreciate why I feel such emotion at
the fate of my people. For whatever reason,
our defence forces are unable to cope and
unable to defend. My sympathies go out to the
soldiers who find themselves in a situation not
of their making. This is a crisis of leadership.
We were told that the budget for security was
going to be enlarged so that the security
agencies and military would be in a better
position to tackle the insurgency. How is it
possible that a great nation like Nigeria should
find itself in a situation where a handful of
terrorists is able to invade a town as large as
Mubi with a population of about 300,000?
How were the insurgents able to so easily take
a town of this size, and the people find
themselves defenseless and undefended?
How is it that the people have been made to
suffer as they have?
I have previously spoken about the
deteriorating security situation in this country
on a number of occasions. On those
occasions I deliberately restrained myself from
speaking in a manner that might be construed
as distracting the government and the security
forces as they grappled with the dire security
situation. But the scale of injustice the people
of Nigeria are suffering has reached a stage
where I am obliged to amplify my concerns.
Many of our citizens, unable to come to terms
with why a so-called “Africa’s best army” has
been unable to confront this horrendous
situation, are increasingly assuming that this
whole thing is about electoral politics. They
suspect that the seeming inability of the
government to end the crisis is a ploy to
weaken some parts of the country ahead of the
2015 elections. Can we, in all honesty, blame
them for having those suspicions?
I call upon the international community to help
us. I am making a special appeal to countries
with sufficient knowhow and experience in
tackling terrorism to increase their assistance
to us.
The relief agencies that are already working
here should please double their efforts. And all
people of goodwill should help in any way they
can and to do more than they have been
doing to alleviate the pain and suffering that
we Nigerians face through this insurgency. At
a time when we are constantly bombarded
with horror stories of ugly events elsewhere in
the world – here in West Africa, we are faced
with the Ebola epidemic and other trouble
spots – I draw your attention to a
humanitarian crisis which is also a matter of
international security.
This Boko Haram insurgency has been with us
now for several years but has, in these last few
days, taken a step further towards being a
disaster of unimaginable proportions.
Hundreds of thousands of people are at risk.
Nigeria needs the world’s support. The world
must not abandon Nigerians in our time of
need.
Thank you.

Ladies Did You Know Health Benefits of Thyme to your Hair?
Yes there I said it Thyme
Wait before you start screaming hear me out. Let's explain how thyme oil can be extracted
Thyme oil is extracted by steam distillation
from the flowers and leaves of the thyme plant.
Thyme is a common herb that is native to the
Mediterranean region. It is primarily used as a
flavoring agent in cooking, but thyme and
thyme oil also have many medicinal and
aromatic uses
Hair Growth
Thyme oil is helpful for hair growth by slowing
hair loss and promoting new growth. Regular
massage with the oil improves blood circulation
in the scalp, thus promoting hair growth and
making hair healthier and shinier.
Thyme also has other health benefits
Diuretic
Thyme oil has properties of a diuretic. It assists
the body in ridding salts, excess water and
other toxins by increasing urination. Because of
the diuretic properties of thyme, it assists with
weight loss and lowering blood pressure.
Individuals with chronic renal failure may
benefit from thyme oil because of its diuretic
properties.
Cardiac
Thyme oil contains an anti-spasmodic property
that is beneficial to cardiac health. It maintains
the function of the cardiac valves and relaxes
the veins and arteries, reducing blood pressure
and thus the workload of the heart. Thyme oil is
also used as a tonic to improve health; it
strengthens the heart, allowing it to work more
efficiently.
Stimulant
Thyme oil can be considered a stimulant, as it
stimulates the digestive system in people who
have slow digestive processes. It can stimulate
the circulatory system by helping regulate
blood pressure. Thyme oil may help people
who are depressed or lethargic. It stimulates
the brain to help with memory and
concentration. Thyme oil stimulates hormone
production, which helps stimulate the body's
metabolism.
Antiseptic Properties
Thyme oil contains the elements caryophyllene
and camphene, which allow it to function as an
antiseptic. Thyme oil is beneficial for many
respiratory disorders, such as coughs, colds
and sore throats. Thyme also is used in
mouthwashes, which aids in treating infections
of the mouth, gums and throat. In addition,
thyme oil acts to cleanse the urinary system
and effectively treat urinary tract infections.

Ladies Hair Tip:Growing one inch hair in 7days A Must Try!
So i was browsing the internet for tips in growing hair longer when i came across the inversion method .“INVERSION METHOD”?
In a nutshell…It involves massaging oil
(preferably warm) into your scalp (such as
castor, coconut, sweet almond oil or any one
of your choice), then tilting your head upside
down for 4 minutes for 7 days straight. You
are not to do it for longer than 4 minutes nor
longer than 7 days. You can do this once a
month.
What is the concept behind this? Well,
apparently there is a science. Tilting or
putting your head upside down allows for
blood flow to the head which in turn
stimulates the scalp and of course growth.
Sounded simple enough and after seeing
many before/after pics I decided it wouldn’t
cost me a dime to try. And what's more? You can try it on weaves and braids but preferably on hair when your scalp is visible. Who else wanna try this with me? Starting tonight .
Plz leave your comments below
PS:I got my yarn braids installed last week but am too lazy to upload any pictures Lol #dontjudgeme
